Apple's online services have experienced a lot of disruptions this month, and it looks like a new problem has surfaced. Several users have reported that their devices keep asking for their Apple ID password. And even after entering the password, the system tells users that authorization failed.
Update: Downdetector shows that many users currently experiencing issues when trying to view content in the Apple TV app.
Bug causes devices to keep asking for Apple ID password
According to 9to5Mac readers, as well as several Twitter users, a bug is causing Apple devices to keep asking for Apple ID password. In some cases, users even logged out of their Apple ID and couldn't log back in. The user said that even his Apple TV+ subscription “disappeared” out of nowhere, making it impossible to use the platform.
So why is my Apple ID randomly asking me for a password I don't know? I don't think this is normal,” said another user.
It is currently unknown how many users have been affected by this bug. When searching for “Apple ID” on Twitter, most reported issues come from people in Brazil and Japan, so it's possible that only a few regions were affected by today's outage.
Apple's system status webpage, which reports when there is a problem with one of the company's online platforms, does not recognize any problems affecting the Apple ID. Earlier this month, the Apple Weather app was down for several days, not to mention intermittent slowdowns. On April 5, several Apple online services remained unavailable to users for several hours.
