Twitter will eventually increase the character limit from the current 280 to 4000, new CEO Elon Musk confirmed on Twitter.
In response to a question about whether Twitter plans to increase the character limit at 4000 was true, Musk replied “Yes” without providing further information. Twitter originally had a character limit of 140 characters, which was increased to 280 in 2017.
The exact details of the character limit increase are not yet known, but previous reports and tweets by Musk have suggested that Twitter can do it. it is easier for users to break up long chains of texts into several tweets that are part of a thread. It seems like increasing to 4000 characters would eliminate this idea and users could just post longer blocks of text in separate posts.
