Despite previous predictions for M3 Update for 13-inch MacBook Pro at Apple's October event, a new report says it's still in development and unlikely to be unveiled anytime soon.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro seemed like an oddball in Apple's lineup, despite being updated with an M2 processor in 2022. For example, this is the last remaining MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, and in terms of price and performance, the MacBook Air and 14-inch MacBook Pro seem like better buys.

However, it has been reported that the 13-inch MacBook Pro will be updated as its codename J504 is known. In some cases, this model was forecast until the end of 2024.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted this at one point, as did Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Gurman also recently reported that inventory of the 13-inch model is low, which could potentially indicate an upcoming update.

But now Bloomberg has changed its position and says it is unlikely that the 13-inch MacBook Pro will be unveiled at the Scary Fast event.

Bloomberg reports that the model is not ready for launch, and only adds that when it does appear, it will have a basic version of the M3 processor.

However, Gurman believes that the event is dedicated exclusively to Mac computers. He says he doesn't expect any updates to the AirPods or iPads.

Apple's “Scary Fast” event will take place on October 30, 2023 and will air from 5:00 pm PT/8:00 pm ET.
