Apple will likely announce new versions of its Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad for Mac at its “Scary Fast” event on Monday, October 30, according to a report today from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The updated accessories are expected to feature USB-C ports instead of Lightning ports for charging.
Accessories will most likely be presented along with the updated 24-inch iMac with M3 chip , which Gurman also expects to be announced at the event.
It's unclear whether there will be any design changes in the accessories beyond the move to USB-C. They look pretty much the same as they did when they received their last major update in October 2015, although there have been some minor changes over the years, including a move to braided cables and new color options only available with the 24-inch models. iMac. Apple also released the Magic Keyboard with a Touch ID button in 2021.
Although the Magic Mouse lasts about a month or longer on a charge, the placement of the Lightning port at the bottom of the mouse has become a meme. has been around in the Apple community for many years because it prevents the mouse from being used while charging. It's unclear whether the new version's USB-C port will be in a more convenient location.
All four iPhone 15 models feature USB-C ports instead of Lightning. The latest version of Siri Remote for Apple TV also has a USB-C port, and Apple has discontinued the MagSafe Battery and MagSafe Duo Charger with Lightning ports.
