Uber Technologies Inc. is launching a mini-pilot program for a TaskRabbit-like service that will allow app users to hire people to perform a variety of household tasks, part of the ride-hailing company's effort to expand beyond driving and delivery.

During initial testing of the program Drivers and couriers in the Uber app can sign up to help customers with small home projects, including assembling furniture, doing laundry at home and mowing the lawn, the company said Monday.
