The 13-inch MacBook Pro is no more

It's official — the new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3 killed the 13-inch MacBook Pro, putting an end to the Touch Bar.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro remained in the Apple lineup for many years, although no one expected it. The dated design and Touch Bar served as a reminder of the historically bad era of Apple's butterfly MacBook Pro.
That will change with Apple's Scary Fast event on October 30th. The 14-inch MacBook Pro will be sold at a lower price with the M3 processor.
Apple chose the most obvious path. The 13-inch MacBook Pro is rumored to undergo some redesign and will continue to sell at a starting price of $1,299. Instead, the company dropped the legacy model entirely and dropped the price of its $2,000 14-inch MacBook Pro to $1,499 from the M3.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro is also truly removed from Apple's lineup. It's not hidden on a website to put some inconvenient price on education, it's just buried.
Apple previously noted that the MacBook Air is the most popular MacBook, but the 13-inch MacBook Pro was the most popular pro model due to its price. People who didn't understand it bought it because of the professional name, not knowing that its feature set is limited and any other Mac would be a better option.
Customers interested in the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3 can pre-order starting October 30th. Initial deliveries will begin on November 6.
