Review: Monos' Metro Backpack Has a Dedicated MacBook Compartment

Joe Rossignol

Canadian company Monos recently gave me the opportunity to review their Metro backpack, which is suitable for carrying MacBooks and other Apple products. Below I've shared some details and thoughts on the backpack's design and utility.

Monos offers the Metro Backpack made of nylon and genuine leather in various colors. I chose the vegan leather option in Saddle Tan, which typically costs $230 in the US but sometimes sells for less.

Overall, I think the backpack looks and feels very good. premium class, high-quality materials complemented by beautiful stitching. Monos says the backpack uses 100% vegan materials, including felt made from recycled plastic bottles. The vegan leather is said to be made from an “ultra microfiber” material that is water and scratch resistant.

The backpack has adjustable straps with the same vegan leather finish, and in my experience it is comfortable. carry.

The backpack has a large main compartment with two interior pockets, a zippered pouch and compartment for iPad, chargers and cables, books, pens and other items. Next to the main compartment is a thinner compartment with a separate zipper for quick access to your MacBook or other laptop. There's also a waterproof compartment, which Monos says is ideal for things like shoes or rain gear.

There's a small pouch on the front that can be detached from the backpack, and I find it a convenient two-in-one solution one. Inside the bag there is a zippered pocket with a translucent window, two other pockets that can hold a MacBook charger or power bank, and a detachable carabiner for keys and more.

There is a pocket on the back Magnetic clasp designed to store iPhone, passport, wallet and other small valuables. There is also a strap on the back that allows you to attach the backpack to the handle of your suitcase when traveling.

Overall, I like the premium feel and versatility of the Metro backpack compared to some other backpacks. with cheaper materials and fewer compartments. If you're willing to spend over $200 on a backpack for your Apple hardware, I think the Metro Backpack is a great choice, but at this price point it's not for everyone.

You can order the Metro Backpack from the Monos website . The company currently ships to the US, Canada, Australia and the UK, and also sells related bags, luggage and other travel items.

Note: Monos provided MacRumors with the Metro Backpack for this. review. No other compensation was received.
