Yes, Apple is working on new iPads, and this comes as no surprise to those who frequently read 9to5Mac. Following our report earlier this month, reports emerged from other sources that also suggested Apple would be releasing new iPads – or at least new accessories – very soon. Now we want to know which iPad-related announcement you'd most like to see next.
Rumors about new iPads
According to 9to5Mac sources, Apple is working on several new iPads. This includes updated entry-level iPad models, iPad mini, iPad Pro, and even new versions of iPad Air.
Since the current iPad Pro is already equipped with the M2 chip, it is more likely that Apple will wait until the M3 chip is introduced to introduce the next generation of iPad Pro. In other words, we shouldn't expect a new iPad Pro to arrive anytime soon, since the first M3 Macs aren't expected to arrive until 2024.
But the other three iPads are likely to get the update any day now . the time is now. The iPad mini, for example, was last updated in 2021, when it received a new design and the A15 Bionic chip. The new iPad mini 7, codenamed J410 and J411, will retain the same design but with a faster processor (likely the A16 Bionic).
Apple also tested an updated version of the entry-level iPad, codenamed J126b. The 10th generation iPad was introduced last year and features a similar design to the iPad Air, but with the addition of a USB-C port. But on the inside, this iPad is powered by the A14 Bionic chip. The iPad 11 is also expected to receive improved specs with little or no design changes.
As for the iPad Air, the rumors are a little bolder. From our sources, we have learned that Apple is working on two different models: one is a replacement for the iPad Air 5 (codenamed J507 and J508) with an M2 chip (the current version has an M1 chip), and there is another version. which may have different hardware (such as a larger display).
However, this second version (identified as J537 and J538) is experimental and may be canceled or introduced at another time. This is not surprising since the 15-inch MacBook Air M2 was introduced a year after the 13-inch MacBook Air M2.
Something's going on
Supercharged's Sami Fathi said over the weekend that Apple is inviting press share some iPad news later this week. 9to5Mac was able to independently confirm these reports. The announcement may appear tomorrow, October 17.

<р> I voted for the entry-level iPad because it offers what most people use the iPad for (consumption) with minimal compromises. It doesn't help that recent iPadOS improvements have been uninspiring at best.
So bump it up to A16, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and add Pencil 3 compatibility and you have the perfect iPad for $450 (64GB) or $600 (256GB).
To make the iPad Pro more attractive, Apple should add a mini-LED to the 11-inch model. . This leaves the iPad Air in a sad position. Unless Apple increases the base storage to 128GB, it has no place in the lineup in my opinion.

It seems obvious to think that Apple will announce some new iPad models in a press release or a little advance notice recorded event. The company did just that last year with the introduction of the iPad Air 5 and M2 iPad Pro. However, Japanese site MacOtakara reported on Monday that this week's announcement could be related to the new Apple Pencil rather than the new iPads.
A few weeks ago, user X known as “Majin Boo” reported that Apple is working on a new generation of Apple Pencil with replaceable magnets. For example, Apple will provide different tips that are better suited for writing or drawing. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo seem to believe that Apple won't release new iPads this month.
But will Apple introduce a new Apple Pencil suddenly and for no particular reason?
