My latest poll shows all new 2H23 iPhones will drop Lightning and move to USB-C, but only two End models (15 Pro and 15 Pro Max) will support wired high-speed transmission, and two standard models (15 and 15 15 Plus) still support USB 2.0, as does Lightning. –郭明錤 (Ming-Chi Kuo) (@mingchikuo) November 17, 2022
Kuo says transfer speeds are likely to “noticeably improve” on iPhone 15 Pro models that support “at least” USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3. After updating the iPhone 15 Professional models will be able to transfer video files and other types of files at higher speeds, with Kuo predicting a significant improvement in user experience.
Apple is moving to USB-C across its entire product line, and the first iPhones with USB-C are due next year. Apple is making changes to comply with European regulations that require electronic devices to have non-proprietary, conventional charging methods.
