With iOS 17.1, which is currently in beta, iPhone users in the UK can now view their bank and credit card balances directly in the Apple Wallet app. Keep reading to find out how it works.
Apple's Wallet app on iPhone Apple Pay transactions made using your bank and credit cards have been able to show Apple Pay transactions made using your bank and credit cards for some time now, but if you're a Wallet app user in the UK, a new integration in iOS 17.1 means you can view your current account balance with your bank. , as well as the history of your deposits and payments. If you have a credit card, you can also view your account balance.
To get more account information, your bank must support the Open Banking API implemented by Apple. Banks currently supported include Barclays, Monzo, Startling, HSBC, Lloyds and RBS. It is likely that other banks will join them after the release of iOS 17.1.
The following steps will show how secure the integration is. authorized through the Wallet application. This is a fairly simple process, and Apple will automatically redirect you to your bank's app to authenticate the connection. Please note that until the official release of iOS 17.1Your iPhone must be running iOS 17.1 Developer Betafor this to work.
- Open the Wallet app on your iPhone.
- Click on your supporting bank card.
- Click Get Started under “View balances and complete transaction history for this account.”
- Click Get Started under “View balances and complete transaction history for this account.”
- Click Continue to connect your account to the Wallet.

After completing these steps, you will be redirected back to the Wallet app, where You will now see your available account balance under your bank card, as well as your transaction history. If it's a credit card, you'll also see your available balance, and tapping your balance will also show your credit limit.
Apple Wallet also stores yearly transaction histories for linked accounts. You can access them for each account in Settings -> Wallet and Apple Pay: tap the connected account under Connections, tap the card under Accounts, then tapActivities account. >, where you can view transactions by year.
With Apple users in the UK still unable to use Apple Cash or Apple Card, it's good to see Apple exclusively supporting the UK banking standard in its Wallet app. . Please note that Open Banking is for the UK only: there is no equivalent in the US at the moment.
