AirPods Pro 2 were released back in September and have since received universal praise from reviewers and consumers. With third-party retailers already offering aggressive discounts, AirPods Pro 2 will be one of the best-selling gifts this holiday season. If they're not already at the top of your wishlist, that's why I think they should be here
What's new in AirPods Pro 2?
The original AirPods Pro were released back in 2019 and were incredibly impressive. Compared to standard AirPods, they offered a more comfortable and versatile in-ear design, improved sound quality, active noise cancellation, transparency mode, and more. The AirPods Pro 2 brings all of these features with a number of quality-of-life improvements, as well as a few other additions.
Inside, AirPods Pro 2 are equipped with the latest Apple H2 audio chip. This provides some new features, but one of the most important things I've noticed is improved performance and pairing with my other devices. The original AirPods Pro connected quite quickly and easily, but there were some quirks and connection issues from time to time. I haven't experienced anything like this in my two months of using AirPods Pro 2.
In addition to performance and connectivity improvements, the H2 chip in AirPods Pro 2 also has a host of other benefits. :
- Active Noise Cancellation now reduces twice as much noise.
- Improved sound quality with H2 chip, new low distortion sound driver and dedicated amplifier
- Adaptive Transparency Mode: reduces loud ambient noises such as the siren of a passing car, construction tools, or even loudspeakers at a concert for a more comfortable everyday listening experience.
- 1.5 hours of extra listening time during the first generation, up to six hours total with ANC.
- Paired with the charging case, you get up to 30 hours total listening time with ANC.
Two other big improvements to the AirPods Pro 2 include volume controls on the stem for the first and changes to the charging case. The volume controls on the stem let you swipe up or down to adjust the volume, so you don't have to use Siri or your iPhone's volume buttons to do so.
The new charging case has a built-in speaker and deep integration with the Find My app thanks to the U1 ultra-wideband chip inside. This means it's now much easier to find your AirPods Pro if you lose them, either by using the precise search feature in the Find My app or by simply playing audio through the charging case's new speaker. The new case also includes an integrated strap holster for the first time.

Those who received AirPods as a gift took to social media to flaunt their new wireless headphones, leading to “AirPods for Christmas” goes viral at Christmas. AirPods were considered a “status symbol”. with people joking that they have “somehow risen to higher social classes”; because of them.
Since then, AirPods have been topping holiday wish lists and post-holiday bestsellers as well. 8221; listings every year. Given that the original AirPods Pro were released in 2019, and three years have passed between updates, there is a lot of pent-up demand for the new model.
Perhaps most notably, the AirPods Pro 2 cost the same as the first generation model at $249, despite notable upgrades and wider price increases for everything else in the world. In addition, AirPods Pro 2 are already heavily discounted in third-party stores. Amazon, for example, regularly sells AirPods Pro 2 for $199, a rare 20% discount on a current-generation Apple product.
With positive reviews, strong sales, and significant quality-of-life improvements like a new charging case and extended battery life, AirPods Pro 2 make a great gift whether you're buying it for the first time. – An AirPods buyer or someone who already owns a first-generation AirPods Pro or another model of AirPods.
