I've become a huge fan of Apple Arcade with its ever-growing catalog of new and classic games alike. My latest obsession is the puzzle game Finity. It came out on Apple Arcade in August, and I love it…and I hate it.
Finity is kind of an all-around puzzle game. It combines aspects of classic games such as Tetris, 2048 and Troikas, but with its own twist. Apple describes it as a “thoughtful, hand-crafted matching game.” There are two game modes: Classic Mode, Casual Mode and Tempo Mode, with the latter focusing on more casual play with soothing background music. Finity's haptic feedback is also incredibly satisfying.
As fun as Finity is, it can be even more infuriating… in a good way… sort of. When I started playing, I thought I was pretty good at it. I was wrong. The more wrinkles it throws at you, the harder and harder it is to move to new levels. Is it good? it's up to you. I like it, but I also hate it.
Finity is available exclusively through Apple Arcade on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. Apple Arcade costs $6.99 per month.
