iPhone SE 4 may look like iPhone 14
2 Facebook Twitter Reddit Rumour assessment 🤔 Perhaps
Apple's under-featured and inexpensive iPhone SE could get a completely sufficient upgrade for its fourth generation, says an anonymous source who claims Face ID, USB – C, action button, OLED display and more.
The iPhone SE 4 has become something of an anomaly in the rumor cycle. It was canceled at least once, called a modem development testing tool, and came in several different designs.
The latest information about the leak comes from an anonymous source speaking to MacRumors. Apple appears to be testing at least a few significant updates for the iPhone SE 4, but it's unclear which ones will be available at launch.
According to the source, here is everything that is being tested on the iPhone SE 4, codenamed Ghost:
- iPhone 14 body
- Action button
- USB-C port
- Single 48MP rear camera
- OLED display
- Face ID
- Internal 5G modem

Because the design is based on the body of the iPhone 14, the iPhone SE 4 will not have the curved edges of the iPhone 15. Additionally, Apple did not finalize the camera bump. a design that can be either a single protrusion or a plateau on which the camera and flash are placed.
If these updates seem too good to be true, that's because they — if Apple released this product today. The iPhone SE 4 is due out in 2024 or 2025, and many of these updates may seem fresh now, but could be cost-effective by the time they're released.
We could easily foresee that the iPhone SE 4 would become the iPhone 14 with USB-C, OLED and Face ID. The inclusion of a 48MP sensor and an Action button are the most questionable parts of this rumor.
The 48MP sensor is becoming cheaper to produce and could be used in the iPhone 15, but that doesn't yet make it cost-effective for a budget model. This may change in a year.
The Action button is the strangest aspect of this rumor. It is only available on iPhone 15 Pro models and will require additional design changes on the iPhone 14 — adding to costs.
However, in 2024, Apple could make the Action button a feature across all devices and include it on the base iPhone 16. It could then appear on the iPhone SE 4 when it comes out.
Since the source is anonymous, it is difficult to assess the credibility of this rumor. He doesn't go out of his way to add anything outlandish and is consistent with other reliable sources, so we think it's possible.
