At Wednesday's Far Out event, Apple unveiled the second generation of the Apple Watch SE. Here's how it compares to its predecessor.
The Apple Watch SE is still aimed at people new to the Apple Watch, existing customers on a budget, or parents looking to get an Apple Watch for their kids. Apple has released a Family Setup feature in watchOS 7 and later that allows family members without an iPhone to still use the Apple Watch. This requires an Apple Watch with LTE.
The two models are almost identical in appearance, as the Apple Watch SE 2022 is an iterative update. However, it is still an attractive option for some people.

Both models retain the 40mm and 44mm variants that have been on Apple Watch since the very first models. However, Apple changed this for certain models starting with the Apple Watch Series 7.

Apple has redesigned the back cover of the Apple Watch SE 2022. It is made using a new manufacturing process that reduces carbon emissions by more than 80%.
