Apple's executive shakeup has resulted in more people than usual being promoted to vice president, with changes affecting many areas of the company . .

Apple has seen many high-profile departures recently, including the loss of nearly a dozen vice presidents in 2022 and 2023. Now Apple has tried to remedy the situation by promoting employees to fill the void.

Employee upskilling typically occurs in early October, writes Mark Gurman in Bloomberg's Sunday “Power On” newsletter. In the lead-up to the fall vesting period, there are more promotions at the vice president level than typically seen, Gurman said.

On the retail side, Apple named Tracy Hannelly vice president of retail experiences and marketing, Karen Rasmussen as vice president of online commerce, and Vanessa Trigub as vice president of retail operations. The trio continue to report to Deirdre O'Brien, head of retail.

On the software development side, Jeremy Sandmel and David Biderman have been named vice presidents, graphics software, audio and multimedia software, respectively. Both continue to report to Senior Vice President Craig Federighi.

Hardware Technology Group appoints Harry Guo as vice president of video engineering, which includes software for video drivers and Face ID, and manages artificial intelligence teams working to convert standard video into 3D versions for Apple Vision Pro. He reports to Myra Haggerty, who in turn reports to Johnny Srouji.

During the production process, Product Manager Rob Hardy and Executive Director of Production Design Vashist Vasanthakumar were promoted to Vice President. Hardy reports to Priya Balasubramaniam, Head of Manufacturing, and Vasanthakumar reports to Rob York, Head of Device Case Manufacturing.

Not all news is about promotions. Yannick Bertholus, vice president of hardware engineering, is resigning and is being replaced by Donny Nordhuis.
