Apple Weather app

Since Apple acquired Dark Sky in 2020, Apple has incorporated a number of Dark Sky features into the stock Weather app on the iPhone (and now on the iPad). and Mac). These improvements make the first Apple Weather app more powerful and useful, with a number of impressive features.

The Weather app has a modular structure that dynamically adjusts based on the current weather conditions in your area. There are also detailed maps for things like rainfall and temperature. Similar to Dark Sky, Apple has also added support for real-time notifications to its Weather app. This means you can receive hyper-local rainfall notifications in your area, including when the rainfall starts and ends.

With this year's software updates, the Weather app is now also available on iPad and Mac with many of the same features.

  • Here's how you can use all the features of the new Weather app for iPad on iPadOS 16.
  • Hands-on: iOS 15 has a brand new Weather app with maps, animations and more.

    Carrot weather

You can’ I don't have a weather app review without mentioning Carrot Weather. This is one of the most impressive and customizable weather apps for iPhone. You can choose from multiple data sources and even link Carrot Weather to your own weather station if you like:

Premium Club members can also use Dark Sky, AccuWeather , ClimaCell, MeteoGroup or AerisWeather as alternative data sources. Region-specific sources are also available: Environment Canada in Canada and WillyWeather in Australia.

Subscribers can also connect to data from personal weather stations right in their backyard. WeatherFlow/Tempest and Netatmo stations are supported directly, and any station connected to PWSweather can also be displayed in CARROT.

Carrot Weather has all the features you would expect from a weather app and more. The layout of the application is fully customizable, there are detailed maps for different types of data, you can see long-term forecast data and much more.

One of my favorite things about Carrot Weather is the set of home screen and lock screen widgets. There are an endless number of different options, and you can even change the design of the widget based on weather conditions and forecast updates. There is also deep integration with live action on the lock screen and Dynamic Island iPhone 14 Pro.

Carrot weather is known for its caustic nature, lending a funny edge to forecasts and current conditions. But if that's not what you're interested in, you can easily turn it off and just end up with boring, personalityless descriptions.

You can download Carrot Weather from the App Store. If you're looking for a Dark Sky replacement and don't find the built-in Apple Weather app powerful enough, Carrot Weather can probably fill that void quite easily.

    AccuWeather

The name AccuWeather is well-known in the weather industry, which is why it is usually at the top of the App Store charts. The AccuWeather app offers an impressive experience for iPhone and iPad with design customization options, real-time alerts, forecast details, and more.

One of the most useful parts of the AccuWeather app is the advanced weather radar features. They allow you to view long-term radar data for water vapor, precipitation, steady winds, and even storm surge. Other features of AccuWeather include:

    • Current weather forecasts – including MinuteCast forecasts for minute-by-minute precipitation updates.
    • Local weather – including severe weather warnings, daily temperature, precipitation and allergy forecasts.
    • WinterCast: Winter forecasts – giving you early warning of the likelihood and accumulation of snowfall
    • Daily forecasts – include rain chance, cloud cover, wind, interactive radar, air quality index, snowfall and even UV index.
    • Advanced Weather Radar – gives you the nitty-gritty of tracking storms, snow, rain, ice, temperature changes and more.
    • RealFeel & RealFeel Shade Temperature™ Technology – helping you better understand how the weather really feels

You can download AccuWeather for free from the App Store with in-app purchase options.

    Weatherstrike

Weatherstrike app for iPhone, iPad and Mac with a unique design. The app is known for its weekly hourly view, which “shows you the entire forecast at a glance, so you can pick the best time to go out more quickly.” The app also offers very useful Home and Lock Screen widgets based on this data.

Use the interactive map to see forecasts for any location in the world, including mountains, trails, lakes, and literally anywhere you place your marker.

Extreme weather warnings appear directly on the forecast timeline, so you can see exactly when hazards are expected, including storms, fires, hurricanes, floods, landslides, and anything else tracked by NOAA meteorologists.

The Weather Strip is free to try for two weeks, after which you can subscribe with an in-app purchase. Download it from the App Store.
