Apple TV launches multi-view sports for beta users tonight

Tonight, Apple is rumored to be launching a beta version of the multi-view feature for Apple TV sports. This feature will be available on today's MLB Friday Night Baseball streams for customers using an Apple TV 4K running tvOS 16.5 beta.

This feature will also be available on a dozen MLS Season Pass games this weekend. Apple hasn't officially announced when Multiview will be available to everyone, though we can expect tvOS 16.5 beta to be out of beta in about a month.

Multiview allows users to watch up to four games at the same time in a split screen interface.

Start watching a game and then in the video player, use the “Add Game” button to add another stream next to it. This feature only works with games streamed by Apple through the TV app; right now that means Friday Night Baseball or MLS football.

The addition of multi-view capability puts the Apple TV app on par with other split screens offered by competing services like ESPN and fuboTV.

This will be especially helpful for MLS Season Pass subscribers who have close to a dozen league games scheduled for this Saturday, many of them overlapping.

The MLS Season Pass includes an organized show called “MLS 360”, but many viewers prefer to have control to tune in to the live games of their choice and easily switch between them. Multiview is the solution for such people.
