Apple may still be preparing to unveil Mac updates in October, claiming there could be an updated 24-inch iMac — and perhaps more — We'll arrive by the end of the month.
There were a lot of rumors earlier this year that there would be an event for Mac and iPad in October — but they cooled down ahead of Sunday's report.
According to Mark Gurman in Bloomberg's “Power On” newsletter, Apple is planning a “Mac-focused product launch” around the end of October. He suggests that the announcement could take place on October 30 or 31.
As for what Apple might unveil, Gurman cites claims that there was going to be an update to the 24-inch iMac, making it a prime candidate for launch. .
A shortage of iMacs in Apple Stores, as well as limited supplies for the 13-inch MacBook Pro and high-end MacBook Pros, are also being seen as potential signs that an upgrade is needed. However, this seems less likely for the MacBook Pro models since the 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro were released with the M2 Apple Silicon processor in January, making the timing suspect.
The M3 isn't ready yet, and OLED displays aren't expected until 2024, so it's unclear what will be included in the new MacBook Pro if it launches in October. And shortages of high-quality products or long waits for machines to be assembled and ordered were not reliable indicators that something new would appear for about four years.
The latest statement also contradicts a recent forecast from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said on October 17 that an updated 24-inch iMac is expected to arrive in 2024.
