Apple is now in its third round of beta testing for this generation, providing developers with fresh builds of iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, tvOS 16.2, and watchOS 9.2. download for testing.
The latest builds can be downloaded by developers participating in the beta testing program through the Apple Developer Center or as an over-the-air update for any hardware already running beta builds. Public beta releases usually appear shortly after their developer counterparts available on the Apple Beta Software Program website.
The third build replaces the second build that Apple made available to developers on November 8th. Apple released the first developer betas of iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, tvOS 16.2, and watchOS 9.2 on October 25.
The third beta of iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 has build number 20C5049e, replacing the second build, 20C5043e. The third beta version of watchOS 9.2 has build number 20S5348d, replacing the previous one, 20S5342d. The second beta version of tvOS 16.2 and HomePod software version 16.2 has build number 20K5348d, up from the second, 20K5342d.
The biggest change in the iOS beta so far is the inclusion of Freeform, a cross-platform collaboration tool designed for group brainstorming on Apple devices.
AppleInsider and Apple itself are strongly urging users not to install betas on “critical” or essential devices due to the negligible chance of data loss or other issues. Instead, testers should install betas on non-essential or non-essential devices and make sure there are enough backups of important data before upgrading.
