Apple launches Tap to Pay on iPhone in Brazil

Apple has announced the launch of Tap to Pay on iPhone in Brazil, allowing independent merchants, small merchants and large retailers in the country to use the ‌iPhone‌ as a payment terminal.


Introduced in February 2022, this feature allows compatible iPhones to accept payments through Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital cards. wallets using only the iPhone – no additional hardware or credit card device required.

Tap to Pay on the iPhone uses NFC technology to securely authenticate contactless payments, plus the feature also supports PIN entry, which includes includes accessibility options.

“Tap to Pay on iPhone has helped businesses around the world and of all sizes—from freelancers to large retailers—offer new payment methods, and we're excited This is to provide Brazilian merchants with a simple, secure and private payment solution,” said Jennifer Bailey, Apple's vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet. “Brazil is a country of great entrepreneurship, and now businesses will be able to accept payments on a one-to-one basis.” in all its locations.”

Cloudwalk is the first payment platform to offer Tap to Pay on iPhone‌ for its business clients in Brazil; Stone, Nubank, SumUp and Granito are coming soon.

Tap to Pay on ‌‌‌‌iphone‌‌‌‌ requires ‌‌‌‌iphone‌‌‌‌ XS or more new models and works for customers just like any conventional transaction ‌‌‌‌Apple Pay‌‌‌‌. Merchants simply need to open the app, register the sale, and present their iPhone to the buyer, who can then use the appropriate contactless payment method.

Tap to Pay on iPhone is available to over 700,000 additional businesses. the feature has also been rolled out to US stores and Apple Stores in the US. Brazil is the sixth region to support Tap to Pay, following similar rollouts in the UK, Australia, Taiwan and the Netherlands earlier this year.
