Apple today discontinued the MagSafe Battery and MagSafe Duo Charger following the unveiling of the iPhone 15. Both accessories can no longer be ordered from the Apple online store and product listings have been removed entirely.
Both the MagSafe Battery and MagSafe Duo Charger were equipped with a Lightning port, so it's not surprising that they were discontinued after Apple introduced four new iPhone 15 models with USB-C ports. Last year, supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the MagSafe battery pack would eventually move to USB-C, but it's unclear whether that will ever happen or whether the accessory will be discontinued forever.
Released in 2021, the “MagSafe Battery Pack” cost $99 and magnetically attached to the back of iPhone 12 and later, providing hours of extra battery life. Meanwhile, the MagSafe Duo was a $129 foldable charging mat with a MagSafe charger for the iPhone and a magnetic charging puck for the Apple Watch.
Apple released several other new USB-C accessories, including updated AirPods Pro and EarPods. , and the Siri Remote on Apple TV added a USB-C port last year.
