Along with the new iPhone and Apple Watch, Apple is rumored to have taken steps to eliminate leather accessories. The premium replacement is called FineWoven and is available in five colors for iPhone 15 cases, MagSafe wallets, Apple Watch bands and more. At the iPhone 15 event, Apple dedicated a special segment dedicated to issues of sustainable development. One of the new initiatives is eliminating leather from accessories across the board.
FineWoven is a new premium option from Apple that uses nearly 70% recycled material. Here's how Apple describes it:
Made from durable micro-twill, this material has a soft, suede-like feel. FineWoven was also designed with the environment in mind – it's made from 68 percent recycled materials and has a significantly lower carbon footprint than leather. The case snaps into place quickly and fits snugly around your iPhone without adding bulk.
Is FineWoven durable?
Although Apple says that FineWoven is “long-lasting”; he notes that “it can wear out over time.” The company also says that using MagSafe will “leave small marks.” And if that doesn't sound ideal, opt for something else, like a silicone or clear case.
